The 2nd Corporate Commitment to Climate Change in Kenya Conference (4CK-2)

Climate Change Conference

Over 200 corporate leaders will gather for a 2-day conference in Nairobi to review progress made in implementing the 10-point charter and deliberate on further action to be taken to advance the attainment of Kenya’s NDCs. The conference will attract keynote speakers from private, government, and development partners championing climate action in Kenya. Participants will critically demonstrate efforts made on each of the 10 points with SMART action points for the next one (1) year.

The two-day event-themed, Advancing Corporate Commitments to Kenya’s NDCs, will consist of panel sessions, presentations, and opening and closing plenaries. Panelists drawn from multisector players will focus on four (4) thematic areas summarizing the 10-point charter. These include;

  1. Climate Action, private sector approaches, and Challenges
  2. Blended climate financing for the private sector
  3. Sustainability strategies and reporting, why it matters for businesses
  4. Strengthening private sector climate action through policy formulation and implementation

The event will officially be opened by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forestry who will equally launch the Climate Business Information Network (CBIN-Kenya), a private-sector climate change coordination body under KEPSA.

The opening and closing sessions including part of the panel sessions will be broadcasted live on KTN channels and live-streamed on digital platforms to trigger national engagement and global interest ahead of COP27.

The 4CK Secretariat together with CBIN acknowledges the efforts the private sector is putting into climate adaptation and mitigation, and the need to support small, medium, and larger enterprises to develop and implement sustainability strategies. A corporate award will be launched during the conference to motivate as many companies as possible to take climate action. This will be referred to as the 4CK Awards.
